Just as you are getting used to a two-wheeler - comes a five wheeler, except it is way cooler! The StreetSurfer is the first real innovation in bicycles since their invention in 1818, and people who have ridden it claim that it is much better in many aspects.
For one it feels more like being on a surfboard or snowboard, than a mountain bike. This is due to better traction provided by its four points of contact with the road - enabling the bike to almost stick to the ground.
Additionally, the suspension is comprised of polymers, (materials which can handle a lot of stress), which activate when impacted and provide for a much smoother ride.
The only bad news is that since riding the StreetSurfer requires a different technique, you will have to learn to ride the bike - all over again.
Most of the difference can be attributed to better traction provided by the four wheels, which allows for faster and tighter riding, especially around corners. Also the traction in the front allows for a weak front brake. The braking on the StreetSurfer is done primarily with the rear brake.
The idea of the StreetSurfer bike came to Australian entrepreneur and bike enthusiast,Tony Varrone, when he saw someone riding a bicycle with the front wheel removed and replaced by four skateboard wheels. He liked the idea and hired some experts to develop this unique kind of bicycle and StreetSurfer was born.
This was almost ten years ago, and now the StreetSurfer is available in ten countries around the world. It will be available in the U.S.A. by year-end 2008. We have a feeling it's going to be quite popular - what do you think?
