With his gravity-defying acts, European street performer, John Lorbeer takes 'hanging out' to a whole new level.
Performing what he likes to refer to as 'still life', the German resident stuns crowds, by hanging in the air, 10-ft above the ground, with one arm casually touching a wall. Once there, he stays in this impossible position for hours on end, without a single movement. On other occasions, he will casually chat with the people below, as they gape at him in disbelief.
John, who is sometimes referred to as the 21st century Tarzan, has been doing these antics for over 20 years and has taken his performances to many cities across Europe. So how does he do it ?
Some say it is an illusion, while others believe it is simply magic. John himself, likes to portray it as just having the right perspective. He says he simply believes that he is just standing near a wall - not ten feet in the air - and his mind allows his body to balance accordingly.
However, the truth is probably somewhere in between - As you can see above, some of his gravity-defying tricks are done using a supporting bar that resembles an arm. His real arm is inside his jacket. However, standing in that awkward position for long periods of time requires a lot of skill, and we still don't know how he does the other tricks. Any ideas?
