Tired of eating cold soggy sandwiches for lunch? If the Heinz Company has its way, you will soon be making that hot 'Cup of Noodles' right in the middle of your algebra class, thanks to 'Beanzawave' the world's smallest portable microwave oven.
The device, which measures 7.4 inches tall, 6.2 inches wide and 5.9 inches deep, is small enough to fit in most backpacks and can be used by simply plugging it into the USB port of any regular computer.
Besides being the smallest in design, the microwave also uses cutting-edge technology. Unlike conventional microwaves, which are big energy hogs, the 'Beanzawave' uses cell phone and radio frequencies to efficiently heat food inside and out, in less than a minute. In the future, the manufacturer, Frazer Designers, also plans to make a version that runs on batteries, making the device even more portable and perfect for those camping trips.
While 'Beanzawave' is still just a prototype (sample), Heinz will help bring it to a store near you, if its surveys indicate that people will buy it. One of the biggest hurdles for this handy gadget is believed to be the price.
Thanks to the rather expensive materials required, the little gadget will cost about $150USD, about the same price as a regular-sized microwave. So if you like 'Beanzawave' and think you are willing to spend your entire (years) allowance on it, be sure to let us know by adding your comments below.
