While the much anticipated, 'Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs' will most likely break all kinds of box-office records, the filmmakers have already made their first foray - By commissioning the World's largest Meatball!
Cooked by the executive and banquet chefs at the Ritz Carlton in Cancun, Mexico, the 49.5kg (109 lbs) meatball, easily surpassed the previous record of 32.93 kg (72lbs), set in 2008.
A representative from Sony Pictures Animation, said that they thought it would be the perfect way to promote the movie, which is about a young inventor who figures out how to get all kinds of yummy foods to fall from the skies - Also, after creating the animated meatballs of all textures and sizes, everybody was craving for a real one.
And, since one of the regulations set by the Guinness Book of Records states that the meatball has to be edible in order to qualify, once measured, the meatball was cut up into bite-sized portions for everyone present to enjoy - We get the feeling that it was as delicious as the ones in the movie.
To make the whole scene even more authentic (and yummier), the company decorated the surrounding areas and the pool with giant fake meatballs, plates of spaghetti, slices of pizza and donuts.
While 'Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs' will not be in theaters until September 18th, we do have a sneak preview for you to watch and drool over!
