If you like exotic animals and fast bikes, you are going to love the GatorBike which, as the name indicates, is literally an alligator (dead of course) mounted on a bike!
The custom bike is the brainchild of Jim Jablon, the owner of a rehabilitation center for abandoned exotic pets, who was looking for a way to raise money to expand his center.
Because of the large population of alligators in Florida, officials often kill some, to keep the numbers in check. Jim got a hold one of the dead carcasses and asked Swedish saddle-maker and bike enthusiast Benny Ohrman, to build him a custom bike.
It took a year and $80,000 USD of Jim's own money, but the result as you can see is quite stunning. Benny crafted the bike so that skin of the alligator is detachable, but the head, which is implanted with the speedometer and other gauges, is fixed permanently onto the handlebars.
While it may look like a stunt bike, GatorBike is equipped with a powerful Ulitma engine that can attain speeds of up to 120mph, making it appealing to even the most serious bikers.
In order to give everyone a chance to buy the unique bike, Jim is planning to sell 1000 raffle tickets at $130 USD each. The winning ticket will be selected sometime in May by a 22-year old model, who apparently will jump into a tank full of alligators to get to it. Sounds a little dangerous to us - What do you think?
