With his runway model-like looks and incredible soccer skills, David Beckham stole the hearts of millions of fans all over the world. On Saturday, May 18th, the 38-year old brought down the curtain on his 20-year professional soccer career with one final game as honorary captain of the Paris St. Germain (PSG) team.
As usual, David who played until half-time, did not disappoint. The midfielder made a number of his trademark 50-yard passes around the pitch and even assisted in a goal from the corner, helping PSG get to 3-0 before half-time. Then with tears flowing freely, an emotional Beckham waved his farewell to a cheering crowd of fans who gave him the standing ovation he so deserved.
Beckham entered the soccer scene in 1992 at the age of 17 as a midfielder for Manchester United, before rising to become captain of England's International team.
He led the team in over 50 games including, numerous World Cup matches. In addition to playing for Manchester United and England, he also played for Real Madrid, LA Galaxy and most recently, the Paris St. Germain.
So what's next for this superstar? If rumors are to be believed, establishing a new Major League Soccer team right here, in the US!
