While a wild cat chasing down prey sounds perfectly reasonable, one who sprints to fetch sticks might seem a little bizarre. However, that is precisely what Serabie, a rescued adult lioness at the Emoya Big Cat Sanctuary in South Africa’s Limpopo province, loves to do.
In the recently released video, the beautiful lioness’s keeper is seen tossing sticks over the fence for Serabie to retrieve. To the utter bewilderment of her male counterparts, Tau and Raka, the majestic animal chases down each one with a ferocity the cats usually reserve for hunting. In one instance, Serabie even climbs up a seemingly fragile tree to claim the precious twig. While there is no information on how the wild cat acquired her fetching skills or how her keeper stumbled upon them, she is better at it than most dogs.
