I had to read this series to keep up with my students. It was not normally something I would have chosen unless it was already popular. I do like the idea of the story because it is futuristic, perhaps a warning of what could happen. I identified with Katniss and always cheered for her and feared for her.

Wow, the character Liesel is wonderful. She loves to read and must steal to read because of the insanity of Nazi Germany. I would have tried to find books just as hard as Liesel if I had been in her situation. One of the best things is that Liesel was denied being able to read as a younger child and then when she begins to thirst for knowledge she doesn't stop reaching for books.

Max is what every one would hope for in a strong main character. She is not perfect, but she never gives up. She loves her odd little family that she calls her flock. Follow her through adventures every teenager would love to fly in to.

The movies are nice, but the books will have details in them that will answer all your questions. Follow Bilbo, Gandalf and the dwarves as they journey far away from the Shire. Then Frodo's journey will shock you with more dangers you ever imagined!
