The first book of the Ivy and Bean series is written by Annie Barrows and illustrated by Sophie Blackall. It has large print and pictures, but it is still a chapter book. The two girls are seven and their names are Ivy and Bean. They live on Pancake Court, which is their neighborhood. The first time Bean saw Ivy, she knew they could never be friends. Bean plays a trick on her sister Nancy, but before she could get in trouble, Bean runs away and Ivy comes to her rescue by taking Bean into her backyard. During that same day, Bean finds out that Ivy is nothing except a girl like herself. Ivy and Bean become friends and play with each other every day.About 11 years agorvreaderliked a comment in Summer Reading 2013.
I love these books!! Next year, are you going to get new books? If you are, can we suggest some, I suggest some series, any series, and some other books like more options for the reading list, or different options, because if we read a book, and we really like it, then maybe we could get it for the summer reading prizes... all of this is just a suggestionAbout 11 years agorvreaderliked a comment in Summer Reading 2013.
I suggest the House On Mango Street, I've heard that that is a good book, and it was recommended by my teacher, I also recommend maybe Harry Potter, but wait, there's another series that I like better...Oh yeah, the Kazam series..I forgot, if you could use these books next year, then that would be great!! -Thanks a lot!! -OcelotAbout 11 years agorvreader added a book review.
The book Matilda is by Roald Dahl. This book is made up of imagination. Matilda, a smart 6 year old girl, is the main character. Her parents and the school principal, Miss Trunchbull, don’t care and are mean to her. Matilda wishes she had a loving family because her parents don’t care about her. When she goes to Crunchem Hall Primary school, she meets Miss Honey, her teacher. Miss Honey was a quiet teacher that cared for her students. Miss Honey is amazed at how many multiplication problems Matilda can do. Miss Trunchbull blames Matilda for causing bad things to happen to her. Matilda goes into Miss Trunchbull’s house to steal back Miss Honey's doll because she cares about Miss Honey. Towards the end, Matilda's family has to move to Spain, but Matilda wants to stay with Miss Honey. Then her parents say yes. Finally, Matilda has a loving family. This is a funny book with a happy ending.About 11 years agorvreader added a book review.

"Matilda" is just like one of Roald Dahl's many other books I love. Like other Roald Dahl's books, "Boy" and "The Witches",they are all warm and touching. The book is focused on Matilda's life, Matilda is not like any regular girl, she has special powers, she is able to move items with her mind. but she takes thing to far to make her in danger. When i first saw this book I thought of the movie, since i enjoyed the movie a lot maybe i would enjoy the book as well and i did as much as the movie. I would recommend this to people who would like to face there fear, because Matilda did.About 11 years agorvreaderliked a comment in Matilda (Random House Modern Classics).
This book was a hit by Roald Dahl! It explains a life of a very precious girl named Matilda trapped in a hatred from her parents and a powerful admiration for literature. It pulls out small mysteries for the inspiring young girl to discover. But many troubles await for Matilda, from her terrible school to the await of being stuck in her worst rival's home. The thrills of Matilda's adventures are merited for a 5- star rating! I highly recommend this book for any age!About 11 years agorvreader added a book review.
Ever since Tony Miglione’s family became rich, people around him have been changing. His family became rich because of his dad’s invention. When he moved to Long Island, he knew that the people around him would change, but not his family. One example is that his Grandmother is feeling terrible now that they have a cook and his mom is turning into a social mom. In New Jersey, his mom was quiet, but now she talks to all her neighbors. But there is no one for Tony to talk to about growing up. Then there is Joel, the "nice" boy next door, but Tony finds out he has problems of his own. Being rich has changed Tony's life, but he realizes that being rich is a gift.Over 11 years agorvreaderliked a comment in Middle School: How I Survived Bullies, Broccoli, and Snake Hill.
Rafe Khatchadorian, after failing middle school, is sent to a "progressive learning summer camp" to learn and experience the wrath of the rivaling cabin from "Bobcat Alley". Upon entering Rafe's cabin, "The Muskrat Hut", he meets Norman, AKA "Booger Eater". After Rafe sticks up for Norman, Norman begins to open up to Rafe. Follow Rafe in the ups and downs of Camp Wannamorra and find out what happens to Rafe in the end. I thought this book was a perfect combination of middle school issues and summer camp pranks.Over 11 years agorvreaderliked a comment in Middle School: How I Survived Bullies, Broccoli, and Snake Hill.
Rafe is the main character. He is sent to summer camp/summer school. He is sent there for failing tests in middle school. His grandmother, Dotty, and Mom drop him off at camp. Soon, he meets a boy named Norman, but the kids call him "Booger Eater". After, Rafe meets his cabin mates, trouble starts. A boy named Doolin and his team mates, Team Dead Meat, start harassing, Rafe's cabin mates. I'm going to rate this unique, one-of-a-kind book 4 stars. This is because the book has humor, and also is serious when it is about being bullied. I recommend reading this book.Over 11 years ago
